The Giants hopes stem from two factors: 1) A pitching staff led by Cy Young Award winner Tim Lincecum including Matt Cain and now Randy Johnson 2) The fact that the Dodgers, Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies and San Diego Padre have done little, if anything to improve. Bill Shaikin is reporting that the San Francisco Giants have a real interest in signing Manny Ramirez - and could also consider offering a contract for three years. It seems that at least one NL West team is preparing to ramp up - and is not t the Dodgers.
